Blessings on your worship this Pentecost Sunday

Starting Sunday June 9th, CUMC will begin a new series of messages on the Gospel of Mark. This book is a book about Jesus. Like a biography. The author, possibly Mark, wants to introduce and commend Jesus to his readers, and does so by telling the story of Jesus' life, death and teachings. But this is not just any story. This is not just any biography. The books points to something more - something important is going on - a higher purpose to life. In this series, we'l explore this book and look for that purpose. And in the process, we may even discover a deeper purpose for our now lives. Join us!

New to Christianity? Interested in learning about the basic story of Jesus? For six weeks, starting June 9th, each Sunday we are going to look at the shortest book of Jesus in the New Testament and consider what Mark's version of the story has to say to us today. Over the course of the six weeks, you'll be given a guide to help you read the entire book. Don't have a Bible? Let us know! And consider getting a small group together, online or face-to-face, to talk about what you learn - and how you might respond!

Every day we face the possibility of being hurt by others. Whether the harm is intentional or unintentional, the hurt is real. We may find ourselves the target of lies, betrayal, gossip, or even physical assault. Someone we love may reject us. Someone we trust may cheat us. Someone we consider a friend may insult us. Or we may find ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and fall victim to random violence or a tragic accident. Loved ones may be hurt or even killed. It is not fair. It is not deserved. It’s what we do next that matters most. We have a choice - every time. Will we travel the path of forgiveness or the path of retaliation? This Sunday we'll look at how we can choose the Path of Forgiveness, and the steps we can take to do so.
